The importance of community contribution

This year at the 2017 REIV Awards for Excellence the Victorian boutique agency Biggin & Scott Knox were announced as the winners of the Community Service Award.

While agencies tend to focus on their respective Agency of the Year and agents, focus on Buyers Agent or Salesperson of the Year. There are some excellent reasons to focus on giving back instead.

Boosts Employee Morale
Employee happiness is key to a successful business after all their work is what runs the company and the daily grind can sometimes be difficult. Giving back as a company will give employees a boost in morale for many reasons.  It makes them feel good, makes them proud of where they work, increasing loyalty, and importantly they respect leaders who do good. They will put more into their work and give more of themselves to a company they love.

Builds strong reputation within the community
When businesses interact and help their community, it can create strong relationships with potential customers and community members. By building a reputation of good will, those that are helped tend to want to support the company and will think and speak positively about you.

Customers now prefer socially responsible companies
A study conducted by Cone Communications and Echo Research revealed that more than 90 percent of consumers would switch to a brand supporting a good cause. As real estate agents and agencies, we need to take on various philanthropic efforts as we are not only physically interacting with present and future clients, but our social media presence is accessible to a vast portion of our potential business.

South-East Queensland real estate agency coronis has supported AEIOU Foundation, Smiling for Smiddy and Tour de Office in the last three months. Managing Director, Andrew Coronis had this to say about why giving back to the community is important to not only his business but him.

“I have been very fortunate to be where I am today; I have a supportive family and friends who have spurred me to be the best I can be. However, many do not have this support or have horrible circumstances thrust upon them that bring their lives to a halt. If I can help make someone else’s life better in any way, then why shouldn’t I and the best way to do this is by giving back and supporting the community and foundations who know how.”
